Art Deco Bird’s Eye Maple Dressing Table & Stool. with Circular Mirror — English c.1930 .

A stylish English Art Deco dressing table and stool in bird’s eye maple, dating from circa 1930. The design has a strong modernist look with clean lines, balanced proportions and elegant detailing typical of high quality Art Deco furniture.

The dressing table is centred around a striking large circular mirror which is original to the piece. The mirror has developed some foxing over time, giving a slightly cloudy appearance in places. This is very difficult to photograph but forms part of the natural ageing of the mirror and adds character. The mirror can be replaced if preferred, although this would incur extra costs. 

Below the mirror sits a shaped glass shelf, and both pedestal tops retain their original protective glass covers. These glass tops show minor surface scratches consistent with age and use.

The table is fitted with two pedestal banks of drawers providing practical storage. The original Art Deco handlescombine chrome mounts with wooden grips which complement the maple beautifully.

The dressing table has been professionally restored and polished in our workshops, bringing out the warm tone and distinctive pattern of the bird’s eye maple. The woodwork is now presented in excellent condition.

The dressing table is accompanied by its matching stool, which has also been repolished. The upholstery is later and not original to the piece. We are happy to reupholster the stool if required — either using fabric supplied by the customer, or we can upholster it in cream leather at no additional charge.
